inZOI and PUBG will soon have AI-enhanced Co-Playable Characters that can dynamically play with you

by Zoe Mar 19,2025

CES 2025 has unveiled a groundbreaking innovation in mobile gaming: the AI-powered Co-Playable Character (CPC). This new concept, revealed by Krafton (PUBG) on January 8th, introduces Non-Playable Characters (NPCs) infused with generative AI. This technology is set to revolutionize both PUBG and inZOI.

inZOI's implementation, dubbed "Smart Zoi," will introduce NPCs with distinct personalities and emotional depth, creating more realistic and engaging interactions within the simulation. For PUBG, the "PUBG Ally" will dynamically adapt its strategies to enhance player dynamics, offering a potentially exciting (or perhaps unsettling) new gameplay experience.

Developed in partnership with NVIDIA ACE, CPCs will enable real-time conversations and adaptive scenarios. Kangwook Lee, Head of Krafton's Deep Learning Division, stated, *"Our collaboration with NVIDIA is a testament to the transformative potential of AI in gaming, and we plan to work closely together to push the boundaries of what is possible."*
